Why I Do This:
We’re All in This Together
Leaders of mission-driven organizations today face unprecedented challenges. Federal, corporate, and philanthropic funding is less predictable than ever. New executive orders threaten the ability of service providers to reach those who most need their care and attention. State and local policymakers cautiously balance planning for the future with playing defense.
I bring to the table a combination of deep policy expertise, proven organizational leadership, and practical coalition-building experience that helps organizations emerge from choppy waters stronger. During my time on Capitol Hill, working for the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, I worked on drafting and negotiating legislation related to education, workforce development, and national service. In my time as executive director of the National Youth Employment Coalition, I served a national network of organizations seeking to implement programs under this legislation – while also raising the funds and building the coalitions necessary to improve the lot of the nation’s young people. In other roles, I have helped numerous nonprofits and foundations translate the findings of research and the lessons of practice for broad audiences – and force policymakers to act. I understand how organizations can maintain their effectiveness, even as the ground shifts beneath them.
Now, I work with organizations to adapt to changing circumstances, while advancing their goals. Each of my clients benefits from my combination of subject-matter expertise, fluency in different policy and advocacy strategies, record of fund development, and nonprofit management experience.
Working with you, I hope that we can achieve a new level of impact for your organization – and that you can find a new level of confidence as you look to the future. Let’s talk!
